Where the brand came from.
The duck analogy is a Bradford thing. There is a pond in Lister Park near the office. We named the business after the observation that ducks look completely calm on the surface while paddling constantly underneath. That is exactly what good SEO should look like to the people searching for your business: effortless. The work behind it is not.
Duck SEO was founded in 2018 by practitioners who had spent years inside agencies that billed clients monthly without clear deliverables. The fixed-scope model is not a gimmick. It is the only model where the incentive structure makes sense: we complete the work, you get the result, the project closes.

What we believe.
Technical SEO is not optional
Every ranking campaign has to start with a technically sound site. A site with crawl errors, canonical confusion, and Core Web Vitals failures will not rank consistently, regardless of content quality or link building. Most agencies skip technical work because it is unglamorous. It is where campaigns actually fail.
Scope matters more than time
A three-month retainer with undefined scope produces less useful output than a three-week fixed project with a defined deliverable. We work in projects because projects have clear success conditions and clear endings.
UK SEO is its own discipline
UK search intent, SERP features, and media landscape are different from US markets. Yorkshire businesses rank in Yorkshire Google results. That requires local knowledge: which publications UK journalists at, how UK citation databases work, what UK consumers search for and how they phrase it.
Reports are not deliverables
Producing an SEO report and calling it a deliverable is how agencies generate activity without generating results. Our deliverables are structured documents, implemented changes, acquired links, and configured dashboards, not interpretive summaries of data you can see yourself.
